Shropshire – barn conversion

Elerdine Stables, ShropshireConversion and extension of barn/cow shed into three bedroom house with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, large kitchen and living area, with a fourth bedroom and playroom in the roof area.

Project included eco features such as sewage recovery.

Project Summary: Managed project working with Telford & Wrekin Borough Council Building Control department, the architect, and an electrician to wire the entire building.

Negotiations with council officers to ensure retention of period features, such as exposed brick around entrance door.

The project retained the original layout of the barn for rooms, as well as a new extension and replacing damaged brickwork of the barn. Hand made bricks to match the originals were sourced from elsewhere on the farm.

Interior features included shotblasted exposed beams, hand made tiles in the kitchen and the installation of an Aga, working with a Gas Safe fitter.

Project duration: Nine months.
